30 Day Song Challenge: Day 26

Day 26- A song that makes you want to fall in love

“I Only Have Eyes for You” / The Flamingos (1959)

This one is easy. “I Only Have Eyes for You” is just about the most romantic song in the entire world. It’s very simple (the words short and sweet come to mind) but the lyrics speak volumes. Unlike a lot of popular “love” songs today, there is no desperation or weird stalkerish behavior. It’s not about doing outrageous things to garner the attention of someone who doesn’t notice you or begging for a current mate not to leave you. It’s about two people so in love that everything else fades away when they’re together. A beautiful sentiment backed by lovely music. How could you hear this and not want to be in love?

My love must be a kind of blind love
I can’t see anyone but you
Sha bop sha bop

Are the stars out tonight
I don’t know if it’s cloudy or bright
I only have eyes for you dear

The moon may be high
But I can’t see a thing in the sky
I only have eyes for you

I don’t know if we’re in a garden
Or on a crowded avenue

You are here and so am I
Maybe millions of people go by
But they all disappear from view
And I only have eyes for you
