Day 2- A song you like with a number in the title
“25 or 6 to 4” / Chicago (1970)
I can’t even begin to express how much I love this song. Despite it being almost five minutes long, I will listen to the entire thing every time it comes on. That’s really hard to do when you have the attention span of a three year old child. Which I totally do. The song is just THAT GOOD.
My favorite part of the song is the extended electric guitar solo. The wah-wah pedal is put to excellent use. Also, trumpets. Why don’t more songs on popular radio feature trumpets? I guess they just aren’t as bold as Chicago which is a shame. A real shame.
There is a scene in “The Garage Door” episode of Freaks and Geeks that features this song. The freaks faction are watching the high school marching band practice the song out on the field, taking turning heckling the band members. Nick (my fave!) comments that they’re torturing the song. I like to think that he is a huge fan of the song, listening to it repeatedly on his record player. A girl can dream right?
