30 Day TV Show Challenge: Day 2

Day 02- A show that you wish more people were watching

I wish that more people were watching The Good Wife. It is such an incredible show. Alicia Florrick is one of the most complex characters on television. She is all the things- a caring mother, a wife who stands by her husband, a brilliant lawyer, a great friend, hard working employee. Literally ALL the things. Despite this, she doesn’t come off as super human. She makes mistakes and sometimes I don’t agree with/understand her life choices (e.g. staying with Peter). This just makes me love her more.

I couldn’t stand Matt Czuchry thanks to a stint on Gilmore Girls as resident doucheking Logan. This show completely reversed my opinion. I find myself continually rooting for Cary Agos even when he’s working against Lockhart Gardner. I care when he doesn’t make partner and feel when his father rejects him.

Josh Charles has long been a favorite of mine but I feel like he was made to play Will Gardner. He nails walking the line between upstanding guy and shady motherfucker. He gives Alicia a job as all of her other friends are shunning her- good guy. He “borrowed” money to cover his gambling debt when he was starting out- bad guy. He has an affair with Alicia knowing that she’s married- good and bad guy. Nothing about Will is black and white, and I love it.

With fast paced story telling, amazing guest stars (hello Michael J. Fox!), and such a solid main cast, you would expect the ratings to be off the charts. Not so much. While the critics are praising it on the regular and it has been nominated for multiple awards (even won a few), people don’t seem to watching. It makes me sad that they are missing out on really fantastic TV. So, if you haven’t seen it, please check it out; you won’t regret it. If you already watch, keep it up. We need more solid shows like The Good Wife on the air.
